This will be quick because I need to get to bed but I wanted to share since I'm late again...

Loving BREAKING BAD sooo much. Aaron Paul aka Jesse Pinkman corrected a quote that I had wrong (whoops, sorry Aaron) on Twitter and it made my night!! I wish there was a snow day coming up but it doesn't look promising. I would love to have some free time at home to work on lesson plans, etc. And my pet peeve? When my materials that I spend time organizing (over and over) keep getting mixed up, lost, etc. BLAH!

Let's start by talking about what I purchased myself on the Sunday super sale on TPT:
First up, I bought Cara Carroll's Valentine Math Tub Activities because they are super cute. I LOVE HER. You must follow her blog and check out the unit.
Then I got my hands on some 2nd grade Common Core Worksheets for Review / Homework from Second Story Window:
Next up is Rachelle from What the Teacher Wants. Amazing Blog and Unit! OMG the kids are going to love spelling!!!
I couldn't find a main picture for this and I hope she doesn't mind, but this is a sample page from her unit, 2nd Grade CCSS Homework! (Also by Second Story Window)
Have you read my post about the Super Kid from my school? I think I can post some videos but not sure. It is getting late and I have teacher INSERVICE in the morning, YAY. Anyway, it sounds like I have to use a third party website to encode videos into MarsEdit. Anyone else have some experience with that?
I'm also thinking about having another giveaway, but with a longer time so we can get some big entries. Maybe something for 3/1/13? Or 3/13/13? Who KNOWS! Let me know if you are interested, or if you are already planning a giveaway and I can throw in some special items. Let's get the ball rolling!
This post isn't about me. In fact, it is about the super bowl and a SUPER KID. I know everybody is getting ready for the big day, and I just happen to personally know someone who will be at the Super Bowl on Sunday. Hunter Paulin is a former student of mine that I am very blessed to know. As a matter of fact, if you tune in early (at the very beginning of the game) you will get a chance to see him running the ball out to the officials before the game. Hunter was chosen out of (who knows how many) applicants based on some questions he answered and an essay he wrote. His story, his life, is inspiring. And that doesn't even begin to describe why he is a SUPER KID.
He was in my FIRST class during my FIRST year of teaching in FIRST great. A year of FIRSTS. And so begins his story.
Hunter was diagnosed with Shones Complex in his first year of life. Shones Complex is a rare syndrome in which 4 severe heart defects are found in the left side of the heart, these defects prevent blood from entering and exiting the heart. Hunter was born with a total of 6 heart defects, with the last one being diagnosed during one of his open-heart surgeries at the age of 7 months old. He has had a total of 12 heart surgeries or procedures so far, the first taking place at 5 days old. The most severe of Hunter's heart defects is his mitral valve, he has had it ballooned, repaired, replaced with a mechanical valve, then re-replaced after a clot formed and shut down his valve a month and half after surgery. Hunter takes blood thinners daily which causes their own health issues. Hunter’s last surgery took place in April 2011. Hunter had his mitral valve replaced again at that time after outgrowing his last valve. In addition, an attempt of repairing his aortic valve was done. His aortic valve continues to have a moderate leak but fortunately is holding steady at this time.

Hunter has been interviewed so many times, by the NFL and by the local and national news. My favorite video features him talking about his heart condition and also interviews his mom, Wendy. If you google him (you can google him!!!) you will find many more videos:
(See separate post here for video)
Hunter is so special that he was also chosen to be an NFL Rush Kid's Reporter - not typically given to the NFL Super Kid. He is writing his own blog posts and interviewing NFL players! You can find his information here: http://www.nflrush.com/category/hunter
Hunter has been so excited for the Super Bowl. His family left on Tuesday to go to New Orleans and he has been talking about it nonstop since they made the announcement. Stay tuned for more news on him. I wanted to share his story with all of you. Remember to tune in early on Sunday.
P.S. There is a SUPER SALE going on at TPT this weekend for the Super Bowl. 20% off all items in my store!!!
